SSS Contribution Table Effective January 2021 for Self-Employed Members

This article is about the new 2021 SSS contribution table for self-employed members. If you are looking for the 2021 SSS table for employees, please see this article New SSS Contribution Table for Employer and Employee Effective January 2021.

On December 22, 2020, the Social Security System (SSS) has issued Circular No. 2020-034-b as a notice to all Self-Employed Members regarding the New Schedule of SSS Contribution Table effective January 2021.

Based on the circular, the SSS enacted Republic Act No. 11199, otherwise known as the Social Security Act of 2018, which includes a provision that states there will be changes to the contribution effective year 2021, as follows:

  • Social Security (SS) contribution rate increases to 13%
  • Minimum Monthly Salary Credit (MSC) increases to P3,000
  • Maximum Monthly Salary Credit (MSC) increases to P25,000

The SSS Circular No. 2020-034b was then issued to announce the new schedule of contributions of self-employed members which shall be effective, as per Social Security Commission (SSC) Resolution No.709-s.2020 dated December 17, 2020, for the applicable month of January 2021.

The new SSS Contribution table below shows the new contributions for the following:

  • Regular Social Security (SS),
  • Employees Compensation (EC) and
  • Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Programs that are administered by SSS.

It is alright to have the increase in contributions for self employed as long as when it’s time for them to retire they get a fair retirement treatment to get their pension.

Good day Ma’am Lourdes; I have an inquiry to make, hope it’s ok with you ma’am. I am 57 years old and a self-employed member of SSS who has been paying the maximum contribution since 6 years ago. The last contribution I paid ( December 2020 ) was P 2,400.00 a month. I would like to ask what is the correct maximum contribution starting January 2021, is it P 3,250.00 or P 3,280.00? The former amount being mentioned by call center agents of the SSS toll-free helpline. Assuming I only pay a maximum of P 2,600.00 contribution, in what way would the additional mandatory provident fund of P 650.00 increase the chances of me getting a higher monthly retirement pension when I reach the age of 60 years old? Looking forward to your reply to my email address.

Hi Maria, I just wanted to ask regarding my voluntary contribution. For the whole year of 2021, I already paid voluntary monthly contribution in the amount of Php2,925 per month. Looking at the table above, it seems that I paid Php30 less monthly than what I should have paid. I do not understand because I just paid the amount on RTPL PRN that was issued to me. What are the implications here and how should I remedy this.

    Dear Sir/Ma’am,

I’d like to inquire why is it in the SSS Mobile app the highest contribution is PhP 3,250/month while in your website it is PhP 3280/month. I have already generated my PRN (VC210862219767) with SS Contribution of PhP 9,750 for the month of January to MArch 2021 but I want to pay for the PhP 3280 per month instead. Is it okay to pay in Western Union branch with Php 3280 even though I have created a PRN already? Thank you very much.

    Hello,

Are Self-Employed contributions the same as the Voluntary Members contributions with an updated SSS contribution effective January 2021?

Good day, I just want some clarifications. I’m 56 and will turn 57 this June 2021. I availed my early retirement effective Jan 2020 at age 55 as part of our corporate benefit. Since then, i’ve been voluntarily paying my SSS contributions of 2,400 per month which was the last total amount of monthly contribution of employer/employee from my last job.

Presently i have no work nor income. Given this scenario , am i still required to pay the new addtl Mandatory Provident Fund? If not, can i input manually the amount of 2,400 in the required space in the online system for PRN creation, since 2,400 is not included in the drop down list?

Im planning to pay the Jan-Mar 2021 contribution this April and hopefully can have your feedback before then.

Your kind response is much appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Grace
